TENTATIVE ITINERARY

At Found Bhutan Tours and Treks, we do not take our guests on a virtual tour before arriving in Bhutan. We want our guests to fully explore and experience Bhutan first-hand. Therefore, we keep our itinerary short and less descriptive.

One of the most breathtaking mountain flights in the world, the journey to Paro offers a continuously shifting view of some of the world's highest peaks. Once customs procedures are completed, our representative from Found Bhutan will meet you at the Paro airport exit doors.

After lunch, spend the afternoon exploring Paro, exploring the attractions in Paro.

The Taktsang Monastery is an essential destination for the majority of travelers. A 2.5-hour trek is required to reach this iconic Bhutanese religious site. Along the hiking trail, visitors can find respite at a scenic view terrace conveniently situated midway through the journey. This amazing construction clings to the brink of an extreme rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. If you are struggling with the hike up, you would have forgotten all your struggles by the time you reach Tiger’s Nest!!!

You may also visit a farmhouse towards the evening, for a hot stone bath. Savoring local dishes, engaging with the host, and experiencing the way of life of the Bhutanese people are some of the activities you can enjoy.

Get ready for a breathtaking trip to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan known for its enchanting scenery and important historical sites.

Drive from Paro to Haa:

Distance: 67 Km | Driving Time: 2-2.5 Hours

Haa Valley, Chelila Pass, Paro Valley

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Hotel in Paro.

Drive to the capital, Thimphu. Savor a full day of sightseeing athe capital and nearby attractions.

Drive from Paro to Thimphu:

Distance: 50 Km | Driving Time: 1-1.5 Hours

Places & Attractions:

Thimphu City, Changkha Lhakhang (Temple), The Memorial Chorten, Zilukha Nunnery, National Library, School of Arts & Crafts (Zorig Chusum), Folk Heritage Museum, Tashichho Dzong

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Hotel in Thimphu.

Travel across the 3,100-meter-high Dochu-La pass, which provides a breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks on a clear day, and then drop into the warm Punakha valley. This most isolated of the Himalayan countries can be glimpsed in daily life on the trip through the countryside. Huge rhododendron woods, which reach tree size in the Dochu-La region, bloom in late April or early May, enveloping the mountains in a riot of vibrant spring colors.

Drive from Thimphu to Punakha:

Distance: 85 Km | Driving Time: 2-3 Hours

Dochu-La Pass, Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), Punakha Dzong, Longest Suspension Bridge

Travel three hours to Phobjikha Valley via Wangduephodrang, a thriving market town. Travel along a meandering mountain road that winds through forests of oak and rhododendron, crosses a high pass, and descends into the scenic Phobjikha Valley. One of the few glacial valleys in Bhutan, Phobjikha is the wintering place of black-necked cranes, who migrate from the Tibetan plateau from November to March. Visit the 16th-century Gangtey Gompa (Monastery) and the Phobjikha Sanctuary after lunch to see the magnificent black-necked cranes (available November through March only).

Drive from Punakha to Gangtey :

Distance: 80 Km | Driving Time: 2-3 Hours

Phobjikha Valley, Black-Necked Cranes (winter), Gangtey Gompa,

Accommodation: Hotel in Gangtey.

Head towards Trongsa, passing across the 3,420-meter-high Pele La Pass in the Black Mountain range. While traveling, stop by the stunning Chendebji Chorten, which dates back to the 18th century. The ruling dynasty of Bhutan originated in Trongsa. Explore the largest Dzong in Bhutan, Trongsa Dzong, and the Ta Dzong museum, which has a collection of Royal Family historical artifacts.

Drive from Gangtey to Trongsa:

Distance:85 Km | Driving Time: 2-3 Hours

Trongsa Dzong, Ta Dzong Museum, Chendebji Chorten

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Hotel in Trongsa.

Proceed to Bumthang, the kingdom's spiritual center, after breakfast (2.5 hours). Some of Bhutan's oldest palaces, Buddhist temples, and monasteries are located in Bumthang. Visit the Jakar Dzong (Dzong of the White Bird) and the 16th-century Tamshing Lhakhang, which houses historical Buddhist wall murals, once you arrive. Visit the 7th-century Jambay Lhakhang and Kurje Lhakhang, two of the kingdom's holiest sites, after lunch.

Drive from Trongsa to Bumthang:

Distance: 80 Km | Driving Time: 2-3 Hours

Places & Attractions:

Bumthang Valley, Jakar Dzong, Tamshing Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Hotel in Bumthang.

Take a day to visit some of the many locations in and around Bumthang, such as the museum of the 16th-century Tang Ugyen Chholing Palace, which offers an overview of Bhutanese rural life, and the Mebartso (Lake of Fire) , where Pemalingpa, the founder of the Nyingmapa sect, is rumored to have discovered treasure buried by Guru Rinpoche.

The trip to Mongar offers breathtaking scenery along the way. Proceed through the village of Ura and then ascend rapidly to Thrumshing-La Pass, which is the highest point on the road network in Bhutan at 4,001 meters. From here, the route progressively travels through hamlets, pine forests, and stunning alpine valleys before arriving at Mongar town. See the Mongar Dzong, which was constructed without blueprints or nails in the 1930s with a traditional method.

Drive from Bumthang to Mongar:

Distance: 210 Km | Driving Time: 6-7 Hours

Ura Valley, Thrumshing-La Pass, Mongar Town, Mongar Dzong

Accommodation: Hotel in Mongar.

Travel to Trashigang (4 hours) via verdant, fern-filled forests and over the 2,450-meter Kori-La Pass. Then, descend through cornfields and banana groves to the well-known road that zigzags just below Yadi. The largest district in the nation is centered in the township of Trashigang. Visit Trashigang Dzong after lunch.

Drive from Mongar to Trashigang:

Distance: 70 Km | Driving Time: 2-3 Hours

Kori-La Pass, Trashigang Town, Trashigang Dzong

See the Gom Kora Temple and Doksum Village, where women are busy weaving traditional Bhutanese fabrics, before arriving to Tashiyangtse, the district headquarters. The region is well-known for its distinctive woodwork crafts. See the Tashiyangtse Dzong, the brilliant white Chorten Kora stupa, and the Zorig Chusum Institute, a local institution where students receive instruction in the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan.

Drive to Samdrup Jongkhar, the entry point to Assam, India, and eastern Bhutan, after breakfast. From Trashigang, it takes eight hours or more to get there, passing through numerous picturesque towns and landscapes.

Distance: 170 Km | Driving Time: 7-8 Hours

Samdrup Jongkhar Town, Picturesque towns and landscapes

Accommodation: Hotel in Samdrup Jongkkhar.

Following breakfast, your guide will schedule an Indian car for your journey to Guwahati, the state capital of northeastern India's Assam, so you may catch your next flight.

Payment Terms

  • To confirm your tour with Found Bhutan Tours and Treks, the full payment for the tour package is required before the approval of your VISA.
Tour Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • Cancellation of tour in less than 7 days prior to arrival in Bhutan - No Refund.
  • Cancellation of tour in between 7 to 14 days prior to arrival in Bhutan - 50% of the total tour cost will be refunded.
  • Cancellation of tour in between 15 to 30 days prior to arrival in Bhutan - 80% of the total tour cost will be refunded.
  • Cancellation of the tour in more than 30 days prior to arrival in Bhutan - 100% of the total tour cost will be refunded.
Flight Ticket Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • The Flight ticket cancellation & refund policy shall be subject to the respective Airline's cancellation policies.
Rescheduling Tour Dates
  • You may reschedule your travel dates free of charge; however, based on your revised travel dates, the minimum daily rates, accommodation charges, and airline fees may change.
Notes
  • For any refunds, the applicable transaction charges shall be levied from the beneficiary.
  • The Bhutan SDF will be fully refunded by the Department of Immigration. However, the VISA fee is non-refundable.
