THE DRUK PATH TREK
THE DRUK PATH TREK OVERVIEW
The four-day Druk Path Trek stands out as Bhutan's most sought-after hiking adventure. The trek starts from Paro valley and ends in Thimphu city or vice versa. This trail meanders through pristine natural beauty, encompassing enchanting blue pine forests, elevated ridges, and unspoiled lakes. Along the way, travelers have the unique opportunity to explore ancient lhakhangs, dzongs, and charming villages.
Druk Path Trek presents a relatively manageable trekking experience, with conveniently short distances between rest camps. The path guides trekkers through diverse landscapes, including fir and blue pine forests, as well as dwarf rhododendron groves, spanning altitudes from 2400 to 4200 meters. On the third day, hikers will discover the breathtaking Jimiling Lake, where crystal-clear waters are home to majestic trout.
Beyond the natural wonders, this trek treats adventurers to awe-inspiring vistas of
Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the world's highest unclimbed peak. The Lonely Planet describes
the Druk Path Trek as “One of the most scenic and popular treks in Bhutan, following a
wilderness trail past several remote lakes. Although it is a short trek, it still goes to a high altitude making it moderately strenuous.”
Prepare to encounter a multitude of unspoiled highland lakes, picturesque scenery, and panoramic vistas of snow-draped peaks,
including Bhutan's towering summit, Mount Gangkar Puensum. Depending on your chosen travel season, your journey will lead you
through high-altitude communities and their yak herds. Get ready for a breathtaking adventure with natural beauty and local culture.
Explore Bhutan's spectacular wilderness and cultural heritage on this remarkable journey.
