Who We Are

Bhutan's Own
Travel Agency

Found Bhutan Tours & Treks is a fully licensed Bhutan travel agency based in Thimphu — the capital of the Kingdom. We are not an international operator reselling Bhutan packages. We are the people on the ground: Bhutanese guides, local drivers, and a team that lives and breathes this country year-round.

When you book with Found Bhutan, you deal directly with the agency that designs and delivers your tour. No middlemen, no commission chains, no generic itineraries. Every trip is built from scratch around you — your interests, your pace, your travel style.

We handle everything: Bhutan visa clearance letters, entry permits, all internal transport, accommodation, meals, guides, and 24/7 in-country support. You arrive in Paro with nothing to arrange and everything to experience.

Why It Matters

Why Book with a
Local Bhutan Agency?

We Know Bhutan from the Inside

Our guides were born here. They know which monastery is quiet at dawn, which valley road reveals the best Himalayan views, and which farmhouse serves the most authentic Ema Datshi. That knowledge cannot be imported from abroad.

No Commission Chains

International agencies add 20–40% in margins before reaching us. Booking directly with Found Bhutan means that money goes into your experience — better accommodation, more time in each destination, a more personal guide.

Visa & Permit Expertise

The Bhutan entry permit and visa clearance process is handled by us before you even leave home. We know every requirement, every document, and every deadline. No surprises on arrival.

Instant Local Response

If something changes — a road, the weather, a festival schedule — we adapt immediately. A Bangkok or London-based operator phones us anyway. Cut out the delay and contact the source directly.

Genuine Relationships

We work with the same lodge owners, the same guide families, and the same local communities year after year. Those relationships mean better access, warmer welcomes, and experiences that no international brochure can promise.

Your Money Stays in Bhutan

Every ngultrum spent with Found Bhutan stays in Bhutan — in local wages, local accommodation, local food. Sustainable tourism isn't a marketing phrase for us. It's the only way we operate.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions

For most nationalities, yes — Bhutan requires international visitors to book through a licensed tour operator to obtain a visa clearance letter and entry permit. This is a Government of Bhutan regulation, not a restriction imposed by agencies. Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals can travel more independently, but most still choose to book through a local agency for the permit process, guides, and logistics.
An international agency markets Bhutan from abroad but ultimately contracts everything to a local operator like Found Bhutan — adding their margin in the process. Booking directly with a local agency means you pay less for the same (or better) experience, deal with the people actually delivering your tour, and get faster, more accurate responses to your questions.
All Found Bhutan packages include: visa clearance letter processing, Bhutan entry permits, all internal transport by private vehicle, a licensed Bhutanese guide, all accommodation (your choice of grade), all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), all monument and cultural site entry fees, and 24/7 in-country support. International flights are not included.
The Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 100 per person per night applies to most international visitors. Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals are currently exempt. The SDF is a Government of Bhutan levy — not a charge by Found Bhutan — and is included transparently in all our package quotes.
For standard travel dates, 4–6 weeks in advance is sufficient. For peak season (March–May and September–November), especially around major festivals like Paro Tshechu, we recommend booking 2–3 months ahead. Druk Air flights fill quickly during festival periods and are the main constraint on late bookings.
Yes — every Found Bhutan itinerary is custom-built. We do not run fixed group departures. Whether you want 5 days or 14, a solo cultural tour or a family adventure, a luxury honeymoon or a budget trekking trip, we design the itinerary around you. Contact us with your travel dates and interests and we'll send a personalised proposal within 48 hours.
