Tour Overview
The Bumdra Trek is one of the most picturesque two-day treks with one-night camping. Dumdra Trek, also known as the TREK OF THE THOUSAND DAKINIS (CELESTIAL FEMALE BEINGS), you can explore numerous sacred and holy places where the angels had convened. The trail passes through pine forest through which you will be able to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Paro valley below. You will also enjoy the view of Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang).
The Bumdra trek has three starting points, however, the most used and the highly recommended one is from Sang Chhoekhor Monastery in Shari, Paro.
From Bumdra, you also get to hike to a sky burial site. There are three sky burial sites in the area which are believed to have been blessed by Guru Rinpoche. Other spectacular options include practicing the game or Archery or Dart (Khuru) or spend leisure time in capturing the mesmerizing natural scenes of Bumdra and its surrounding areas.

Tentative Itinerary
At Found Bhutan Tours and Treks, we do not take our guests on a virtual tour before arriving in Bhutan. We want our guests to fully explore and experience Bhutan first-hand. Therefore, we keep our itinerary short and less descriptive.

7 Kms hike, Duration: 3 – 4 hours, Camp Altitude: 3,800 meters:
We will drive from the hotel for about 20 minutes till you reach the road end at Sangchhoekhor Buddhist College on a hilltop at 2,800 meters. There, we take sometime to visit the temple and interact with the monks.
After that you enjoy the picturesque Paro valley below as you hike towards your campsite just below the Bumdra Monastery. You can rest and relax at your campsite or hike a little uphill to enjoy even more mesmerizing views of the surrounding landscape.

15 kms, Trek Time: 5-6 Hours:
Enjoy your breakfast with the beautiful sunrise from your campsite before we start our hike towards the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. You will enjoy the leisurely hike through forests of rhododendron and pine trees. We visit the temples on the top, especially the Zangdopelri Temple, which is the mystical glorious Copper Coloured Mountain of Guru Rinpoche from where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of other temples below.
After that, we hike down to the main temple, The Tiger’s Nest, and gradually climb down till you reach the base where your driver awaits you in anticipation. You enjoy the drive back to your hotel after a satisfying and a mesmerizing hike.
