The Postcard Dewa operates at a scale none of Bhutan's other luxury properties attempt: just 13 rooms and 2 luxury suites, tucked into dense Himalayan blue pine forest in the Khasadrapchu valley on Thimphu's outskirts — close enough for genuine urban access, far enough to feel completely removed from it. It won "Bhutan's Leading Boutique Hotel" at the 2025 World Travel Awards, and "Asia's Leading Boutique Hotel" back in 2022.
This isn't a multi-lodge circuit — it's a single intimate base for exploring Thimphu and the western valleys, with rooms genuinely large by any standard (995 to over 2,100 square feet) and a kitchen that deliberately avoids international hotel menus in favour of Bhutanese red rice, buckwheat, and river-fresh mountain trout.

Arrive Paro, Transfer to The Postcard Dewa
The drive from Paro passes through the Thimphu valley before climbing into the forested Khasadrapchu valley, where The Postcard Dewa sits with sweeping views over the Wang Chhu river. Check-in to your room — even the smallest here is a genuine 995 square feet — followed by a light evening: the on-site tea house, or simply the private sit-out overlooking the valley. Thimphu Sightseeing
Tashichho Dzong, the Buddha Dordenma statue, the National Memorial Chorten, and the Motithang Takin Preserve — a short drive from the hotel into the capital and back. Dinner back at The Postcard Dewa features the kitchen's local-ingredient focus: red rice, buckwheat, Bhutanese chillies, and river-fresh mountain trout, alongside dishes like Ema Datshi and Paksha Paa. Local Culture & Nyenzerkha Lhakhang Hike
A short guided hike to Nyenzerkha Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple near the property, followed by family-friendly archery and Khuru (darts) — Bhutan's two national sports — and a picnic by the Wang Chhu river. This is the day the itinerary slows down deliberately, leaning into the property's local, unhurried character rather than another sightseeing circuit. Overnight at The Postcard Dewa.

Tiger's Nest Hike
The drive to Paro, then the hike to Paro Taktsang — Bhutan's most iconic monastery, clinging to a cliff 900 metres above the valley floor. A teahouse roughly halfway offers the first full view across the gorge. Return to The Postcard Dewa in the evening for a spa treatment and a swim in the temperature-controlled pool. Departure
A final relaxed morning — the property's antique-filled interiors are worth a proper look before departure, including artefacts preserved from an old monastery. Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight.
