Bhutan Tour

From Madrid or Barcelona — dos reinos antiguos, un encuentro extraordinario.
Bhutan Tour from
Spain
Spain and Bhutan are both countries of ancient culture, extraordinary natural landscapes, and a national character so distinctive it has survived every historical pressure to become something else. Spanish travellers — heirs to Iberian, Roman, Moorish, and Christian civilisations that have layered over centuries — arrive in Bhutan and find a country with the same depth of cultural accumulation, expressed through Himalayan Buddhism rather than Mediterranean history.
From Madrid Barajas (MAD) or Barcelona El Prat (BCN), the most convenient routing is Iberia or Air India to Delhi Indira Gandhi Airport (~9–10 hours), then Druk Air to Paro (~2 hours). Alternatively route via Dubai with Emirates. Total journey approximately 10–13 hours.
Found Bhutan is a licensed local agency based in Thimphu. Spanish travellers bring warmth, genuine curiosity, a passion for food and culture, and a love of landscape that Bhutan rewards at every level. Every itinerary is built from scratch. EUR pricing available on request.
Visa & Entry for
Spain Travellers
All international visitors to Bhutan — except Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals — must obtain a visa before travelling. The visa is applied through your licensed Bhutanese tour operator (Found Bhutan), costs USD 40 per person, and takes approximately 5–10 working days. Once approved, a visa clearance letter is emailed to you before departure.
Documents required: Valid Spanish (EU) passport with at least 6 months validity. Your Found Bhutan visa clearance letter. Routing via Delhi may require an Indian transit visa if exiting the airport — routing via Dubai avoids this.
Sustainable Development Fee (SDF): USD 100 per person per night — a Government of Bhutan levy. Included in all Found Bhutan packages. EUR quotes available on request.

Booking Tip for Spanish Travellers

Why Spanish Travellers
Love Bhutan
Two Ancient Civilisations — Different Mountains, Same Depth
Spain has the Alhambra, Sagrada Familia, the Camino de Santiago, and a culture shaped by 3,000 years of overlapping civilisations. Bhutan has Paro Taktsang, Punakha Dzong, and 1,300 years of uninterrupted Vajrayana Buddhist culture. Spanish travellers who understand what cultural depth feels like find Bhutan’s version of antiquity immediate and compelling.
From the Pyrenees to the Himalayas
Spain has extraordinary mountain landscapes — the Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada, Picos de Europa. The Himalayas are a different scale: peaks above 7,000m, passes at 4,000–5,300m. Spanish mountain travellers arrive in Bhutan and find terrain of entirely new grandeur.
Festival Culture of Sacred Depth
Spain’s Semana Santa, La Tomatina, and regional festas demonstrate the power of communal celebration. Bhutan’s Tshechu festivals have the same quality — an entire community in traditional dress, sacred performance, and ceremony that connects daily life with something larger. Spanish travellers recognise it immediately.
Food as Cultural Identity
Spanish travellers understand that food is civilisation. Bhutanese cuisine — ema datshi, red rice, momos, ara — is as culturally specific and regionally distinctive as Spanish food. The boldness of the flavours and the depth of the traditions resonate with a culture that knows what real food is.
Environmental Values in Practice
Spain has fought to protect its forests, wetlands, and coastlines. Bhutan has achieved constitutional environmental protection, carbon-negative status, and national parks covering 51% of the country. For Spanish environmentalists, Bhutan’s achievement is both inspiring and instructive.
Photography of the Highest Order
Spanish photography culture is strong. Bhutan offers subjects unavailable in Europe — festival mask dances, dzong architecture at golden hour, Himalayan panoramas, monks at prayer. Every day in Bhutan is a photography day.
Luxury Worth the Distance
Six Senses Bhutan, Amankora, and Uma by COMO deliver quality of cuisine and design that Spanish luxury travellers appreciate. Set against Himalayan scenery and cultural depth unavailable anywhere in Europe.
Calor Humà — Human Warmth
Spanish travellers are renowned for their warmth and sociability. The Bhutanese are equally warm, and the meetings between Spanish travellers and Bhutanese guides are consistently described as the highlight of the journey.
