From Colombo, the most convenient routing is via Kolkata (SriLankan Airlines or IndiGo, approximately 2 hours), then Druk Air's frequent Kolkata–Paro service (approximately 1 hour). Bangkok is a reliable alternative. Given the short connection, we recommend 7–10 days in Bhutan.

Visa & Entry for
Sri Lanka Travellers
All international visitors to Bhutan — except Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals — must obtain a visa before travelling. The visa is applied through your licensed Bhutanese tour operator (Found Bhutan), costs USD 40 per person, and takes approximately 5–10 working days. Once approved, a visa clearance letter is emailed to you before departure.
Documents required: Valid Sri Lankan passport with at least 6 months validity. Your Found Bhutan visa clearance letter. Sri Lankan passport holders should check current Indian transit visa requirements if routing via Kolkata or Delhi on separate tickets; connections via Bangkok do not require a transit visa.
Sustainable Development Fee (SDF): USD 100 per person per night — a Government of Bhutan levy. Included in all Found Bhutan packages.

Paro International Airport is Bhutan’s only international airport and one of the world’s most dramatic. From Sri Lanka, the most practical routing is via kolkata or bangkok, then Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines onward to Paro.
Approx. 2 hours direct. Then Druk Air CCU–PBH (four times weekly, ~1 hr).
Approx. 3.5 hours direct. Then Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines BKK–PBH (~3.5 hrs, daily).
Booking Tip for Sri Lankan Travellers
Kolkata is usually the fastest routing for Sri Lankan travellers given the short first leg and frequent Druk Air service onward. Book 6–8 weeks ahead during the March–May and September–November peak seasons. LKR pricing available from Found Bhutan on request.
