Bangladesh and Bhutan are close neighbours sharing deep Buddhist and Hindu heritage, a love of monsoon landscapes, and a strong sense of cultural identity. Bhutan’s Himalayan kingdom is unlike anything in Bangladesh — pristine mountain valleys, ancient monastery fortresses, and a way of life that has remained extraordinary for centuries.

Bhutan is exceptionally accessible for Bangladeshi travellers. Druk Air operates direct flights from Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) to Paro — approximately 1.5 hours. Bangladeshi nationals pay a significantly reduced Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of just USD 15 per person per night — compared to USD 100 for most international visitors. This reduced rate is valid until 2027 for up to 15,000 Bangladeshi tourists per year, making Bhutan one of the most affordable international destinations from Dhaka.

Found Bhutan is a licensed local agency based in Thimphu. We welcome Bangladeshi guests warmly and understand the cultural connections and practical needs of travellers from Dhaka and beyond. BDT pricing available on request.

Why Bangladeshi Travellers
Love Bhutan

The Himalayas — Right Next Door

Bhutan is one of Bangladesh’s closest international destinations. A 1.5-hour flight from Dhaka lands you in one of the world’s most pristine Himalayan kingdoms. The contrast from the delta landscapes of Bangladesh to Bhutan’s mountain valleys could not be more dramatic.

Reduced USD 15 SDF — A Genuine Advantage

Bangladeshi nationals pay just USD 15 per person per night — compared to USD 100 for most international visitors. Combined with the short 1.5-hour direct flight from Dhaka, this makes Bhutan one of the best-value international destinations in the region.

Living Buddhist Heritage

Bangladesh has deep Buddhist roots, particularly in Chittagong and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bhutan’s living Vajrayana Buddhist culture — monasteries, festivals, monks, sacred art — connects with that heritage in a way that Bangladeshi Buddhist travellers find deeply moving.

Pristine Nature After the Delta

Bangladesh’s landscape is one of water and flatness. Bhutan offers the complete opposite: mountain passes at 3,000m+, glacial valleys, pristine rivers, and forests covering 72% of the country constitutionally.

Tiger’s Nest — An Unforgettable Experience

The hike to Paro Taktsang — the monastery on a 900-metre cliff — is consistently described by Bangladeshi visitors as the most extraordinary experience of their lives.

Luxury for Special Occasions

Six Senses Bhutan, Amankora, and Uma by COMO deliver world-class honeymoon experiences. Bhutan is increasingly popular with Bangladeshi couples as a honeymoon destination — close, affordable (reduced USD 15 SDF), and extraordinarily romantic.

Perfect for Families

Bhutan is safe, welcoming, and wonderful for families. Tiger’s Nest, dzong fortresses, yak farms, and festival culture are endlessly engaging for children from Dhaka.

Festival Culture of Ancient Depth

Bhutan’s Tshechu festivals — with mask dances, traditional music, and sacred ceremonies — have a communal depth that Bangladeshi travellers from a rich festival culture respond to immediately.
