Upon arriving at Paro International Airport, you'll begin your adventure with a visit to Paro Rinpung Dzong — the Fortress of Heaped Jewels. Experience the vibrant Paro Festival with traditional performances and rituals. Meet locals, enjoy casual conversations, and gain insights into their culture over a scenic picnic lunch. After a full day of exploration, relax with an overnight stay in Paro.
Start with an early morning drive to Paro Rinpung Dzong to witness the unveiling of the Thongdrol — a large, intricately crafted religious thangka depicting Guru Rinpoche. The term "Thongdrol" translates to "liberation upon seeing" or "instant enlightenment through viewing" — one of the most sacred moments in the Bhutanese calendar.
Afterwards, take a scenic one-hour drive to Thimphu, visiting Tachogang Lhakhang and crossing an ancient iron suspension bridge along the way. Explore a local craft bazaar to discover unique Bhutanese handicrafts before settling in for an overnight stay in Thimphu.
