At Found Bhutan Tours and Treks, we do not take our guests on a virtual tour before arriving in Bhutan. We want our guests to fully explore and experience Bhutan first-hand. Therefore, we keep our itinerary short and less descriptive.
- Upon arriving at Paro International Airport, you’ll begin your adventure with a visit to the Paro Rinpung Dzong, also known as the Fortress of Heaped Jewels. Here, you'll experience the vibrant Paro Festival, observing traditional performances and rituals as time allows based on your flight schedule. Take the opportunity to meet locals and enjoy casual conversations, gaining insights into their culture. A scenic picnic lunch will be arranged, followed by a leisurely stroll through the charming town of Paro. After a full day, relax and unwind with an overnight stay at your hotel in Paro.

Start your day with an early morning drive to Paro Rinpung Dzong, the renowned Fortress of Heaped Jewels, where you’ll witness the Thongdrol. This is a large, intricately crafted religious tapestry, or thangka, often depicting a deity, Guru Rinpoche, or Buddha, as well as scenes from Buddhist cosmology. The term "Thongdrol" translates to "liberation upon seeing" or "instant enlightenment through viewing."
After experiencing this spiritual moment, you’ll embark on a scenic one-hour drive to Thimphu. Along the way, you’ll visit Tachogang Lhakhang, a sacred temple, and cross an ancient iron suspension bridge. In Thimphu, you’ll explore a local craft bazaar, where you can discover unique Bhutanese handicrafts. Afterward, settle in for an overnight stay at your hotel in Thimphu.

Embark on an excursion through Thimphu Valley, the capital of Bhutan, beginning with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa. Next, head to Kuensel Phodrang, also known as Buddha Point, where you’ll see the impressive 51.5-meter Shakyamuni Buddha statue and enjoy panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley.
Continue your journey at the Simply Bhutan Museum for a glimpse into traditional Bhutanese life, and then visit the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal. Stop by Zorig Chusum, the school of the 13 Traditional Arts and Crafts, to witness Bhutanese artistry in action.
At the Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory, learn about Bhutan’s unique papermaking tradition. Later, explore Tashi Chho Dzong, the Fortress of Splendid Religion and the office of the Dragon King of Bhutan. Conclude your day with a visit to the Centenary Farmers Market, where you can browse a variety of local products. Enjoy a restful overnight stay at your hotel in Thimphu.

Begin your journey with a scenic two-hour drive from Thimphu Valley to Punakha Valley. Along the way, stop at Dochula Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,150 meters, where you’ll encounter 108 chortens, or stupas, built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers.
Take a moment to explore the nearby meditation caves, which offer a peaceful retreat and a glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual practices. Continuing the drive, visit the Sangchen Dorji Lhendrup Nunnery, where you’ll have the chance to interact with the resident nuns and learn about their daily lives and spiritual dedication.

Start your Punakha Valley excursion with a 30-minute hike to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Stupa, a beautiful monument surrounded by stunning mountain views. Next, visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece situated at the confluence of two rivers.
Afterward, cross Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge, the Iron Suspension Bridge, which spans 160 meters and offers breathtaking views. Then, pay a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, renowned for its blessings.
